About The Watsonian Golf Club

Founded in 1887, the Watsonian Golf Club is open to former pupils, parents and staff of George Watson's College and runs outings, competitions and social events for members to enjoy.

Outings
Playing golf is what we are all about and there are a number of outings organised each year, with the highlight being our Gold Medal competition. This is a great chance to play one of the best courses in the world for fun and competition and then relax in the bar afterwards for food and drink with fellow members. Full details of this and our other outings are on the Events page of the members area.

Competitions
The Gold Medal outing is a qualifying event for the match play events we run through the season including the Club Championship and also a 'B' Championship for higher handicappers.

Social Matches
We have several matches lined up each year against kindred clubs, most notably our fellow Edinburgh Schools of Stewarts Melville FP George Heriots FP and Edinburgh Academicals. These are played off handicap in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere on great courses and are a great way to meet fellow members and make new friends. There is also the annual match against the GWC pupils and staff, so sign up for as many teams as you want and get involved.

Annual Dinner
The highlight of our social calendar is the Annual Dinner held each year at Myreside. Great speakers, wonderful food, plenty of drink and the cameraderie of members and guests always makes for a memorable evening.

Team Tournaments
Watsonians are one of the most successful FP golf clubs in the country and regularly enter teams in scratch and handicap tournaments for golfers of all ages. Team Managers for each event check for availability for each event so if you want to be considered, join the Club and make yourself available as these are fantastic events and trips to be a part of. They include:
